At the beginning of a New Year
PRAYER OF THE OPEN HANDS
My God and my All! We are at the beginning of a New Year.
I am here with OPEN HANDS.
It is a time of fresh beginnings.
I look forward with hope for your loving designs
as you walk with me day by day.
I lay before you my OPEN and EMPTY HANDS.
I give you my Left Hand as a symbol of all that I need to let go of,
all that does not serve your glory
and the growth of your Kingdom on earth.
I give You all the stuff and little things to which I cling ...
I let go of all complaints, comparisons, criticisms…
I give you any anxiety, fear, grudges, unforgiveness…
I want to freely give you all in my Left Hand
that is not in accord
with your will and glory
or my holiness.
I give you my Right Hand as a symbol of all that you will place there,
all that your providence plans for me in 2025.
Help me be open to new challenges,
unexpected encounters and surprising detours in my plans.
Mary, my Queen and Mother:
help me
do whatever Jesus tells me!
Assist me in imitating you in worshiping God and in serving others.
St. Joseph, my spiritual father, help me to do—silently, faithfully
and with great love—all that this year has in store for me.
I ask all these things in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
